Nomad’s Making A FreeSpace Mod (Again)

So, it’s been (checks notes) over two years since I last posted on here, and posts in the year before that were ‘a bit thin on the ground’. Sorry about that.

You may be wondering what I have been up to all this time. The short answer is ‘I have been swamped’. Life, family, pets, health issues, a full-time job, travel, moving home - three times, DIY, learning a second language, writing how-to guides, and (as you may have guessed by the title of this post) making a mod.

You may recall from this post back in 2021 that I was helping to make an anthology mod for FreeSpace 2 called 'Series Resurrecta'. That is still ongoing, although my involvement as a writer ended a while back since I had written or re-written everything that needed writing, so there was little left for me to do. I was also doing a spot of play testing and voice acting for some other campaigns too.

You may also recall from this post and its follow-up that I have clear views on what should be included in a Space Combat Sim. Most of the FreeSpace mods I was helping other people with didn’t include these, and the lead developers had no intention of adding them. Growing increasingly frustrated with this I did what I always do in situations like these - do it myself, with blackjack and hookers 😁

On a sadder note, one of the people I was working with on another FreeSpace mod called 'Reunion' passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in 2023. I was the writer and ideas guy; he was the technical genius who would make it all work. To finish what we had started, I would have to learn how to do all the things he was going to do. No easy task, but I was determined to do it. I think it’s what he would have wanted.

That’s all for today, but I'll have further updates for you all soon. See you all there.
